We’re looking for a great Video Editor and Motion Designer.

The Video Editor creates compelling video content that helps our clients connect with and influence people. This position requires someone with a passion for Video Editing and Motion Design who can turn raw footage, graphics, music, and illustration into a great video, social media campaign, or TV spot.

As a key member of the Between Pixels team, you’ll be a front-line storyteller, working with clients and colleagues to identify what’s important, what’s not, and how to get the right message across. Success is measured by how well your work meets a business goal– it’s creativity with a purpose.

You’re the specialist, but at a company like Between Pixels you’ll need a pretty diverse set of skills and interests. You’ll spend most of your time in Adobe Premiere, working on your own projects and helping take those created by other team members to the next level. But you may also find yourself writing, filming, and chipping in to help our producers. Whatever it takes to get the job done.

Success at Between Pixels requires a high level of competency in your role as well as a personality and character that is well suited for a small, dynamic environment. You can do great things here but it’s not right for everyone. We invite you to do a little reflecting to make sure the following describes you.

You are creative, regularly coming up with new ideas and opportunities as a natural problem solver. You are technically savvy, embracing the ever-changing world of video and culture to stay relevant. You are adaptable and resourceful, comfortable with change and finding ways around a dead-end. You are observant and are able to pick up on cues from your environment, often seeing things others don’t. You love stories, whether telling or hearing them. And you are humble, constantly looking to grow and seeing feedback as an opportunity to get better.

Although the number of years is not an accurate predictor of success in this role, it’s likely the person to fill this role will have between 3 and 7 years of relevant experience. That experience could be as an independent contractor, corporate employee, or on the agency side.

The Video Editor serves as the expert in using video to tell great stories, even when a narrative doesn’t naturally exist. You will work across a range of projects, from the highly inspired to the relatively mundane. But each project is an opportunity to do great work. The bulk of your time will be spent on the following activities:

  • Video Editing
  • Motion Design
  • Filming
  • Lighting Design
  • Audio Acquisition
  • Video Graphic Development
  • Secondary Tasks

You’ll also find yourself helping out in one or more of these areas on a regular basis. If you’re weak in an area or two, we’ll put a plan together to bring you up to speed quickly.

  • Directing
  • Producing
  • Script Writing
  • Motion Design

You’ll need basic knowledge of the following programs, apps and hardware. We use most of these on a daily basis, but this list evolves as we test and implement new tools.

  • Adobe Premiere
  • Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Google Docs
  • Keynote
  • Basecamp
  • Toggl
  • Slack
  • Asana
  • Dropbox
  • Wistia
