We’re looking for a DP and Video Editor who creates compelling video content that helps our clients connect with and influence their audience.

The Director of Photography (DP) and Video Editor at Between Pixels creates compelling video content that helps our clients connect with and influence their audience. This position requires someone with a passion for creating compelling video content and expert-level skills in their craft– from selecting cameras and gear to bringing a Director’s vision to life, to sewing together raw footage, graphics, and music into spectacular video content.

As a key member of the Between Pixels team, you’ll be a front-line storyteller, working with clients and colleagues to identify what’s important, what’s not, and how to get the right message across. Success is measured by how well your work meets a business goal– its creativity with a purpose.

You’re the specialist, but at a company like Between Pixels, you’ll need a pretty diverse set of skills and interests. You’ll spend most of your time prepping for and executing shoots. Everything from broadcast-ready brand ads to in-studio shoots to corporate interviews and pre-filmed event content. You’ll have your hands on a wide array of video projects and no two days will be exactly the same. When you’re not shooting, you’ll spend your days in Adobe Premiere, working on your own assigned projects and paying close attention to detail — making sure pre-established templates are used properly, files are tidy and your edits are client-ready.

Success at Between Pixels requires a high level of competency in your role as well as a personality and character that is suited for a small, dynamic environment. You can do great things here, but it’s not right for everyone. We invite you to do a little reflecting to make sure the following describes you.

You are creative, regularly coming up with new ideas and opportunities as a natural problem solver. You are technically savvy, embracing the ever-changing world of video and culture to stay relevant. You are adaptable and resourceful, comfortable with change and finding ways around a dead-end. You are observant and are able to pick up on cues from your environment, often seeing things others don’t. You love stories, whether telling or hearing them. And you are humble, constantly looking to grow and seeing feedback as an opportunity to get better.

Although the number of years is not an accurate predictor of success in this role, it’s likely the person to fill this role will have between 5 and 10 years of relevant experience. That experience could be as an independent contractor, corporate employee, or on the agency side.

As the Director of Photography (DP) and Video Editor, you’ll serve as a lifeline to your producer. You’ll ensure we get the right footage and give the client a great experience, you’ll arrive on set prepared and confident that have what you need to get the shot, whether filming on location or in-studio. You’ll help create great content from interviews and stories, even when a narrative doesn’t naturally exist.

While you’ll work across a range of projects, the bulk of your time will be spent on marketing or corporate content. So you need to understand how to earn and retain attention quickly, whether via scripted comedic ads or executive interviews. We conduct the majority of our shoots around the Atlanta area or in our studio. However, now that clients are back to in-person filming, there will likely be opportunities to travel nationally or abroad. Applicants should be open to occasional travel. Having an up-to-date passport is always a plus.

The bulk of your time will be spent on the following activities:

  • Shoot prep
  • Filming
  • Gear and Crew management
  • Lighting Design
  • Video Editing
  • Media Management
  • Audio Acquisition
  • Video Graphic Development
  • Secondary Tasks

While infrequent, you could also find yourself helping out in one or more of these areas on a regular basis. If you’re weak in an area or two, we’ll put a plan together to bring you up to speed quickly.

  • Directing
  • Motion Design
  • Producing
  • Script Writing

You’ll need basic knowledge of the following programs, apps and hardware. We use most of these on a daily basis, but this list evolves as we test and implement new tools.

  • Sony GH5
  • Black Magic
  • Sony A7sII
  • RED
  • DJI Phantom
  • DJI Ronin
  • Adobe Premiere
  • Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Canon DSLRs
  • Google Docs

  • Frame.io
  • Toggl
